Government Affairs

In Washington, the big oil and gas energy interests are very well represented on Capitol Hill and in the regulatory agencies by some of the largest industry associations in Washington. However until now, other ocean technology sectors have been given short-shrift by the major association.

IOSTIA is the voice of these industries in Washington, DC!
The IOSTIA Government Relations programs does not work strictly benefit our U.S. members. Our program also focuses attention on international issues. We maintain strong ties to relevant embassies and work in concert with our domestic issues to address the regional and national concerns of our members throughout the world.

Regulatory officials, members of Congress and their staffs now turn to IOSTIA on matters and issues associated with such technology fields as:

  • Autonomous vehicles
  • Offshore wind energy
  • Marine renewables
  • Oceanography
  • Subsea mining
  • Aquaculture and Fisheries
  • Sensors
  • Arctic change
  • Maritime security
  • Environmental montoring
  • Marine archeology
  • Ocean obvservations
  • Hydrography
  • Ports and infrastructure
  • Diving and manned exploration

ISOTIA’s Government Relations and Policy Committee identifies the key public policy issues of the day affecting its mission and our member companies, and sets the government relations strategy for the organization. Unique to IOSTIA, we not only represent the mission of the association, but we also represent member companies before the government when a specific company issue is in concert with the mission of IOSTIA.
  • The IOSTIA Government Relations team will work to introduce or support legislation and regulations that benefit the economic growth and commercial development of its members in the energy and ocean industries.
  • We put IOSTIA member companies and C-level representatives face to face with U.S. government officials in all departments and agencies of the federal government and their corresponding congressional committees.
  • We educate and persuade decision makers and make them aware of how their decisions directly affect IOSTIA members.
We fully engage these key Capitol Hill committees and regulatory agencies associated with our industry:
