Richard V. Lawson, CEO

Richard V. Lawson serves as the CEO of IOSTIA and as a member of the founding committee he served as a catalyst and provided the vision to gather the Founding Members and launch IOSTIA. Prior to IOSTIA, Richard was the Managing Partner at Association ROI and President of Lawson Association Consulting where he provided C-Level consulting to trade associations and non-profit organizations. From 2008 through 2015, Lawson was the Executive Director of The Marine Technology Society, where he was responsible for all aspects of operations, led an organization-wide rebranding, and the expansion of member programs. Lawson’s 25 plus years of non-profit experience includes operational management, strategic planning, membership and program development, international strategy and execution, and board relations.

 

Kevin M. Kennedy, CFO

Kevin M. Kennedy serves as CFO of IOSTIA and is responsible for overseeing the finance and accounting functions of the organization. Kennedy began his work with IOSTIA as a member of the founding committee. Prior to IOSTIA, Kevin was the President of Double K Consulting where he provided fractional CFO and accounting expertise at a number of trade associations and nonprofit organizations. These organizations were involved in marine technology, technology, construction, financial markets, education and more.  Kennedy brings more than 20 years of experience and his expertise covers full-cycle accounting, financial planning and reporting, strategic planning, investment advisory, and tax preparation.

 

Chris Barrett, COO

Chris Barrett serves in a volunteer capacity as the Chief Operating Officer for IOSTIA and is a member of the founding committee.  As the COO, Chris is responsible for advising on all overall operations within the organizations strategic and policy framework. Chris ensures organizational effectiveness by providing leadership in all operational areas with expertise in communications, meetings and events, member services, membership recruitment, and program development. In her career of more than 20 years, Chris has held a number of C-Level positions including as COO in the infrastructure industry, Acting Executive Director and Director of Operations in the marine technology sector and more with a number of 501(c)(3) & 501(c)(6) organizations.

 

MJ McDufee, Director of Development

MJ McDuffee is a brand and marketing strategist, sales professional, and event organizer with nearly 20 years of devotion to the ocean science, coastal & offshore environment, and offshore oil & gas industries.  From 2001 through 2015 MJ worked in a management capacity for Technology Systems Corporation (TSC), focusing on business development, product expansion, strategic alliances, and event management.  MJ continued to provide her expertise in corporate and product growth through consultation before joining IOSTIA.  As Director of Marketing, MJ is responsible for overseeing membership marketing, sponsorship, and sales activities. 
 

Jeffrey L. Taylor, Chief Lobbyist

Jeffrey Taylor is also a member of the founding committee and serves as the chief lobbyist for IOSTIA.  Taylor has over 25 years of experience in the government relations, public relations, and political consulting arenas.  Jeff advises members on how to establish a sustained, substantive and interactive relationship with U.S. elected leaders and regulatory decision-makers who directly impact the business mission of IOSTIA.  Jeff has tackled issues in several highly regulated industries including offshore energy, renewable energy, oil/gas, energy efficiency, energy management, and managed policy and education outreach for various maritime and ocean technology concerns.
